One Night Stand

Trellis restaurant, in Lincoln Park, hosted a kitchen takeover featuring Chef Won Kim of Maria's Packaged Goods & Community Bar. If tonight's "One Night Stand" is any indication, not only is Bridgeport in for a delectable new dining experience but Chicago is looking at a very bright star and rising chef.

Fusing Polish and Korean delights, Chef Won Kim expertly creates and executes dishes which do not disappoint. His pierogi, there was a choice of kraut-chi or pork belly, served with soy yogurt sauce and dill are over the moon; spaghetti squash beer pancakes with pulled pork and onion jam, perfect; house made Polish sausage, second to none; the aforementioned kraut-chi is a match made in heaven - subtle yet full of flavor; and the spiced soju mustard & onion jam are both positively jammin'! Moving to Bridgeport? Thinking about it, now! I hope that the kick-ass playlist is a staple there, too!

'Bap' on Over to Andersonville for It's A Major Plus Meet Up!

Thursday, April 17th let's meet up for some good grub and what will be the first It's A Major Plus Meet Up. It's a chance to meet up with friends, old and new, eat some great food and have a good ole time!

I've chosen Andersonville, where it all started for me, one of my favorite neighborhoods for the first meet up. So Bi Bim 'Bap' on over to Andersonville for dinner at Jin Ju. Jin Ju is a fantastic, fun place with a great menu of Korean cuisine and fabulous sojutinis! Among my favorite dishes are the Sang Sun Jun and Mandoo (fried or steamed) appetizers as well as the Kim Bap and of course their Dak Gan Jang! For an entrĂ©e, while I have tried everything on the menu, I simply die for and am unable to steer away from their Dol Sut Bi Bim Bap, probably because it's served in a sizzling hot stone pot!

Meet time is 6:30. Everyone pays their own way. If we get ten people to RSVP by the 14th we'll be able to order their special pot roast dish (not on the menu). With drinks and appetizers you can anticipate spending between $50 and $60 per person. You can also expect some great shoulder slappin' & fun lovin' service and even a couple of door prizes.

To save a spot please email itsamajorplus@gmail.com by April 14th. 15 spots are available.

Hope to see you there!!
