Normally it wouldn't phase me that someone churned me on social media. People follow and unfollow accounts all the time, it kind of goes with the territory. Who they ultimately choose to follow is the prerogative of the user and I get it. But this particular case seems different and here's why:
The account in question belongs to Ben Shabad who claims to be some kind of therapist which, we'll take his word for it. A therapist is often known for their ability to foster a safe, non-judgmental space, characterized by deep empathy, active listening, and strong ethical boundaries. They should be flexible, client-centered, and skilled in building trust, helping patients feel understood.
Ben entered a lookalike contest: whoever looks most like Jeremy Allen White from The Bear, a TV show.
He won. No actual skills required, no qualifications other than similar in appearance. Knife skills? Not likely.
No Food Handlers Permit or License required, no mandatory BASSET training for sellers/servers.
And then I guess, he saw it as an opportunity to gain followers.
He used this gimmick to attract attention and he did what so many disingenuous people do. They begin following a bunch of accounts, Instagram makes that very easy with suggestions. The hope being they will get followed in return out of curiosity or courtesy. After a week or two they unfollow some of these accounts.
And this supposed therapist did this to me. He followed me. And I did not follow him back because I'm not interested. Then he unfollowed me and followed me again, like a cry for attention. So out of the benefit of the doubt and curiosity I gave the guy a follow-back. Only to find out a few weeks later that he unfollowed me.
And you know what...
Who cares right?
As I already said, this happens regularly.
People follow accounts,
Scan the user's followers,
Unfollow accounts.
No big deal.
But you call yourself a therapist?
You are just another social media tool, desperately seeking attention.
Aren't these behaviors unbefitting someone in that field.
You're a fake ass.
A con.
You don't understand what our community is all about.
When I first shared this so many people responded that he had done the same to them. It's simply not appropriate. And I ain't got time for your bullshit little wannabe.
Bye!
